Our Story

Grand Staircase Resort is NOW Escalante Cabins & RV Park.
When the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument was declared in 1996, an entrepreneur came to Escalante and bought the land that is now Escalante Cabins & RV Park. He began construction of a RV Park, but failed to complete the work and abandoned the project unfinished. For two decades, the unfinished site was an eyesore that greeted travelers on Scenic Byway 12 as they entered Escalante.

In 2016 Steve & Jenae had a vision of what this property could be and pursued purchase of the acreage for rental cabins, RV sites, and a tent camping area. After receiving the blessing of local authorities, they worked through the summer of 2016 to complete 27 RV sites, tent sites, and bathroom facilities. By the fall the park was open and ready to greet & serve the traveling public. The park started with 1 cabin, and in the years since, they have added 3 more cabins and 2 vacation houses. Each year they have been able to expand and provide more facilities. The construction of the main building and the addition of landscape decor and plantings has created a much more visually appealing entrance to Escalante!

Steve & Jenae have lived in Escalante for years and know the area well.  They are hands on owners who you will frequently see in the reception center or around the property & are always willing to help to make your stay the best it can be!

Proudly our facilities utilize sustainable water practices to facilitate some grass areas & help us to preserve the beauty of the area while minimally affecting its delicate ecosystems and balance.

Please visit us often. There is so much to explore and do.
Jenae was very welcoming. All facilities are clean, well cared for and comfortable. We stayed in a tent site, RV site, cabin, rental house and casita. We also used the laundry facilities. All were perfect, and we couldn't have asked for more. We would definitely stay at this location again!

We were here for a week, and would have stayed longer, if we were able. Great RV Park, run by really nice staff, in the middle of incredible views in just about every direction (right from the park). The staff were extremely helpful and right on with their recommendations for eating, hiking, local drives, sightseeing, etc. We'll be back next year, if at all possible!!

This campground was one of the best I have experienced in terms of hookups, level spacious sites, and easy to get in and out even with big rigs. It is a true gem in such a beautiful place. The owners are really friendly, happy and accommodating folks. Very knowledgeable about the area and make it obvious that they want you to enjoy your stay.
